Bill Gibbon
I have long experience of working at policy, strategy, and tactical level with local, regional and national bodies, but am still a primary school teacher at heart. I bring expertise of working with people to help them identify their own strengths and abilities. My speciality is making things seem simple, by breaking complex issues down into smaller parts and focusing on working procedures. I have applied this in a number of project management/leadership roles, including a period as Strategic Development Adviser in a government department, dealing with stakeholder engagement and undertaking horizon scanning/foresight activity. I continue to work freelance on education projects.
As an active member of the Newcastle Encounter since I returned home to the North East, I have supported all the regional initiatives as much as possible, including the Cultural Partnership with Northumbria University, the Big Jump project, and also the development and promotion of the Virtual Coffee House. A keen user of other ICT based social networking facilities, I engage with other Fellows nationally through the RSA LinkedIn group and Twitter.
