London
Charmian Love is COO of Volans. She joined Volans with a background in both the private and non-profit sectors. Throughout her career she has been attracted to ambitious and innovative ideas designed to create social and economic value.
Charmian’s most recent position with The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) allowed her to gain valuable experience working with clients in the financial services and social impact practice areas. Her project work included the organization of the inaugural Canadian Social Entrepreneurship Summit and the coordination of the selection process for the Schwab Foundation’s Canadian ‘Social Entrepreneur of the Year’ award. Through this experience Charmian became inspired by the passion of social entrepreneurs and committed to supporting the creation of effective, reciprocal partnerships to help them scale their models.
Being an active volunteer in the community has always been important to Charmian. She was one of the founding members of the United Way of Toronto’s GenNext Cabinet where, as Chair, managed a large team of volunteers and created a portfolio of initiatives designed to raise its profile amongst young professionals in the community. Charmian has been an active member of the Toronto Board of Trade, where she served on the Community Action Advisory Board. Currently Charmian holds the position of Past Chair at the Flavelle Foundation, an organisation that allocates funding to registered charities in Canada. She is also a member of the TN2020 network of the British Council.
Charmian graduated with an Honours BA from Queen’s University in Canada and an MBA from the Harvard Business School, where her coursework focused on innovation.
Born and raised in Canada, Charmian now lives in London with her husband, Sam Gray. She enjoys visiting contemporary art galleries, adventure travel and brainstorming sessions.
