One of the core questions for me and for other Fellows here in Wales is “how do RSA London projects and activities connect to the Fellowship”? “How do we get involved at the genesis of such projects rather than at the point at which they are fully formed and determined?” And, crucially, in a newly devolved nation “how do the issues and endeavours arising from the regions and nations impact on the priorities of the centre?”

The strength of the RSA is the premise that it is a “powerful national and international network of accomplished individuals”.The new Fellowship Council recognises that the RSA must connect with, and truly exploit the potential of this network and that the flow of ideas must be in both directions.

I have worked in the cultural sector for over 30 years & have a special passion for the arts as a powerful tool for social change and individual empowerment. Following the Nolan report, I was the first person to be appointed to chair the Arts Council of Wales when the post was openly advertised. I led a major management review – aligned to the establishment of the National Assembly for Wales and introduced new accountability and governance arrangements. As Director of Taliesin Arts Centre I am committed to removing barriers to participation in the arts. We have developed innovative projects involving primary school children with contemporary dance practice and I am currently involved in developing a “Women in Leadership” programme involving national and regional organisations. I am also Vice Chair of the Film Agency for Wales and a Director of Diversions, the National Dance Company of Wales.
