The impacts of the credit crunch and current global economic difficulties are forcing us all to rethink many of our assumptions about the economy, consumption and society.

At the same time the urgency of addressing the problem of climate change is increasing and we haven't got much time left in finding more sustainable ways of living, travelling, working and organising ourselves.

Could the new economic circumstances that emerge from the current turmoil lead to a more sustainable future?  And what might consequences be - for individuals, for businesses, for society as a whole, and for the environment?

Respondent: Anthony Browne, policy director to the Mayor of London.

Chair: Matthew Taylor, chief executive, RSA
