RSA/Penguin Series - 10 Years After

The RSA and Penguin present a major series of public talks, lectures and debates exploring the impact and legacy of the cataclysmic events of 9/11 from a range of cultural, political, and foreign policy perspectives.

In the second event in the series we welcome anthropologist Scott Atran and Quilliam founder Ed Husain for an exclusive “in conversation” event, exploring the roots of radicalisation and political violence. How can we best apply new knowledge and insights into human nature and the pathways to and from violent extremism to help us build more cohesive and peaceful societies?

Speakers: Ed Husain, co-founder and ambassador, Quilliam Foundation and author of 'The Islamist' and Dr Scott Atran, director of research in anthropology, the National Centre for Scientific Research, Paris and author of 'Talking to the Enemy: Violent Extremism, Sacred Values, and What it Means to be Human'.

Chair: Madeleine Bunting, columnist and associate editor, The Guardian.

Listen to the final debate in the series, 10 Years After with John Gray, Lisa Appignanesi, Mehdi Hasan and Sarfraz Manzoor.
