RSA Thursday
The demands on public services to be more ‘efficient’ have never been so strong.
But if the conventional prescription means a combination of cutting costs, shared back offices, call centres and economies of scale – does it actually work?
As desperate public servants start to search for better answers, there is a growing critique which suggests otherwise.
This 'RSA Thursday' event brings together three of the key advocates in the new efficiency debate:
Speakers: John Seddon, founder of Vanguard Consulting, author of 'Systems Thinking in the Public Sector'; David Boyle, author of 'The Human Element', a call to put face-to-face relationships at the heart of service; Halima Khan, NESTA Public Services Lab and former Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit deputy director, now developing the set of mutual solutions known as co-production.
Chair: Anna Coote, head of social policy, New Economics Foundation.
