RSA Debate
The relationship between the advertising industry and ‘the consumer’ has changed significantly over the past 50 years.
Our expert panel will consider how and why the world of Mad Men has been consigned to the history books. Is this the result of a more empowered public and shifting patterns of consumption in a fast-changing economic and communications landscape?
Exploring the characteristics of this evolution, and the forces at play in defining advertising’s place in today’s society, the panel will question the true role of advertising; is it misunderstood as just a tool to promote consumption?
Panel to include: Nicola Mendelsohn, president, IPA and executive chairman and partner, Karmarama; Sam Delaney, writer, journalist and broadcaster; Lord Watson of Richmond CBE, chairman, Havas Media UK.
Chair: Matthew Taylor, chief executive, RSA
