RSA Screens with More4
This beautifully observed documentary follows three troubled Glasgow primary school children as their lives are completely transformed by the Nurture Room – a special learning programme producing extraordinary results across the UK.
Shot with unprecedented access over one year, we witness the changes undergone by the children in their small, special classroom – a place where they can revisit early ‘nurturing’ experiences they missed of didn’t get at home. By demonstrating courteous and supportive behaviour, the teachers and assistants in these groups make the children feel accepted and valued – the benefits being felt by their peers, their schools and ultimately society as a whole.
There will be a panel discussion following the screening with director Matt Pinder, Brian Woods, producer, The Nurture Room, Irene Grant, assistant director, The Nurture Group Network and Bob Reitemeier, chief executive, The Children’s Society.
Chair: Miriam David, Professor Emerita of Education, University of London
True Stories is More 4's showcase for the best of international feature documentaries.
