RSA Debate with Channel 4

While most young people go on to further and higher education, 47% leave school with less than 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C, and with little prospect of employment. Why are nearly half our children leaving school with so few of the qualifications or competencies they need to succeed in a 21st century society and economy?

Who is to blame for this poor educational achievement and how can schools and the wider community develop strategies and activity to inspire and motivate those who do not engage with the traditional education system?

A panel of experts including Katharine Birbalsingh, teacher and author of To Miss with Love, John D’Abbro, head of group, The New Rush Hall Group, Naomi Jane, founding director, the 4WD Foundation and Michael Gernon, principal, RSA Academy debate the issues.

Chair: Matthew Taylor, chief executive,  RSA.

The debate coincides with the new Channel 4 series Jamie’s Dream School on Wednesday nights at 9pm.
