Ammo Talwar

Ammo Talwar is the founder and Director of Punch, a dedicated Black music and arts development agency based in Birmingham, a company which spans commercial and community boundaries.  

From its roots as a dedicated hip hop record store and promoter / producer for international tours including KRS 1 and DJ Premier, Punch has grown to become a recognised arts champion, pioneering work with young people and artists nationally and internationally, including the month-long annual commissioning festival BASS and through collaborations and touring, most recently with South Africa's Simphiwe Dana, and Dub to Dubstep featuring Channel One Soundsystems. During that last 3 years Punch have extended their practise producing significant visual arts exhibitions including Arts Own Kind - The history of Fela Kuti, Bollywood Stills & Soho Road to the Punjab.

A regular speaker, advisor and consultant, previous clients have included Urban Music Seminar, PRS Foundation and the Decibel Performing Arts Showcase. Ammo is current Chair of Blackroutes - the a national touring network for African Caribbean Music; a board member for Arts Council West Midlands and Advantage West Midlands BME Business Forum, he writes a regular column in the Birmingham Post. He was awarded an MBE in 2008 for his services to music and young people.
