Dame Liz Forgan DBE
Dame Liz Forgan DBE is chair of Arts Council England.
Liz took on the role at Arts Council England in Feb of 2009, and has also served as chair for the Heritage Lottery Fund and National Heritage Memorial Fund since 2001.
Liz was formerly Managing Director of BBC Radio. Following an early career in journalism, she moved to television with the start of Channel 4 where she became Director of Programmes at Channel 4. She joined the BBC in 1993. She is a former Chair of the Churches Conservation Trust and also former Trustee of the Phoenix Trust. She is the Chair of the Scott Trust, a board member of the Conservatoire for Dance and Drama and a non-executive board member of the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.
In 2006, Liz was awarded Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire for services to Radio Broadcasting, in addition to being awarded the OBE in 1998 – also for services to Radio Broadcasting.
