Emma Gladstone
As artistic programmer and producer, Emma Gladstone is part of the programming team that has transformed Sadler’s Wells from a receiving house to one that commissions and produces new dance work. Her focus includes programming experimental work in the Lilian Baylis Studio, commissioning and producing off-site performances – Tate Modern, Trafalgar Square, Latitude Festival - alongside other elements of the programme such as dance film and work for young audiences. She directs the Jerwood Studio at Sadler’s Wells research programme which test drives new ideas and collaborations with a variety of artists for the main stage.
Prior to working at Sadler's Wells, Emma performed for many years, getting her Equity card at 17 with Arlene Phillips, before co-founding Adventures in Motion Pictures, and subsequently dancing with Lea Anderson’s The Cholmondeleys. She was Associate Director at The Place Theatre 1997 – 2003 leaving to co-direct production company Crying Out Loud, and has worked as a freelance producer for Dance Umbrella, the South Bank Centre, Cape Farewell, Middlesex University and BBC/ACE among others.
Emma has been an advisor for numerous arts bodies, and has lectured internationally for Visiting Arts and the British Council. She is currently a Trustee for Candoco, the integrated dance company working with disabled and non-disabled dancers.
