Professor Robin Alexander

Robin Alexander is Fellow of Wolfson College, University of Cambridge, Professor of Education Emeritus at Warwick University, President (2008-9) of the British Association for International and Comparative Education, and Director of the Cambridge Primary Review.

Educated at Cambridge, Durham, London and Manchester universities, he has worked in schools, colleges and universities in Britain and overseas, and served on CNAA, CATE, QCA, and the 1991-2 ‘three wise men’ primary education enquiry. His many books include Culture and Pedagogy: international comparisons in primary education (2001), winner of the Outstanding Book Award of the American Educational Research Association.

Supported by Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, the Cambridge Primary Review is the most comprehensive enquiry into English primary education for 40 years. It was launched in October 2006, has released 31 interim reports to date, and in October 2009 will publish its final report and recommendations
