Dr Richard Betts leads the Climate Impacts research team in the Met Office Hadley Centre
and is one of the Met Office’s main spokesmen on the science of climate change.
Has worked as a climate modeller for 15 years and has
pioneered a number of key scientific developments on ecosystem-climate
feedbacks and an integrated view of climate change impacts.
He is a lead author on the Fourth Assessment Report
of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). He was an
award-winning lead author on the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment – the authors
shared the Zayed Environment Prize with Kofi Annan, former Secretary-General of
the United Nations.
Dr Betts sits on the board of directors
of James Lovelock’s GAIA charity.
