Rita Carter is an award winning author and acknowledged expert on the human
brain. Her 1998 book Mapping the Mind was the first modern work to offer an
overview of the subject for the non-specialist reader. It has since been
translated into 18 languages and adopted as a course text in universities
throughout the world. Exploring Consciousness brought together the neuroscience
and philosophy of consciousness, while Mapping the Memory presented the latest
neuroscientific findings about human memory. Carter's most recent book
Multiplicity: the new science of personality posits a neurobiological basis for
multiple personalities and challenges conventional views of the self.
