Stephanie Flanders is the BBC's economics editor.

From 1997 to 2001 Stephanie worked as a speechwriter and advisor to the US Treasury Secretary, Larry Summers, where she was involved in the management of the emerging market crises of the late '90s.

She has also worked as a reporter for the New York Times, and as principal editor of the UN's 2002 Human Development Report. Before heading off to the US, she wrote leaders and economics columns for the FT, and worked as an economist at the Institute for Fiscal Studies and London Business School.
