Zarine Kharas

Zarine Kharas is the founder and CEO of online fundraising website Justgiving.com

Justgiving is the company which, according to Charity Times, has "transformed the face of donating in the UK” since the launch of the website in early 2001. She took the idea to the US in 2003 and launched Firstgiving.com.

Zarine started her professional life at City law firm Linklaters then moved into investment banking in the mid-80s. At Credit Suisse First Boston, she structured and executed the very first transactions in the Euro-equity capital markets and advised on some of the earliest privatisations. In the mid-90s, she led the launch of MC Securities' operations in Warsaw, responsible for strategy and operations, including public market and private equity.

At a time when her peers were happily planning their retirement, she became fascinated by the internet and decided to make a radical career change by creating Justgiving in late 1999.

Zarine holds a BA in law from Cambridge University.
