David Reynolds is the Professor of International History at Cambridge University and a Fellow of Christ's College. He is the author of ten books on aspects of the twentieth century, including One World Divisible, Summits and most recently America, Empire of Liberty (Penguin), which will be published on 19 January at the start of the second cycle of his BBC Radio 4 History of the United States.
