Stein Ringen is Professor of Sociology and
Social Policy at the University of Oxford. He has worked in the
Norwegian Ministry of Justice, and is the author of the highly
acclaimed book What Democracy is for. He has been undertaking a major investigation of 'good government' for the past 20 years
