Angela Sarkis CBE joined the Nurture Group Network as CEO in January 2009.
Having started her career with 11 years in the probation service, Angela has dedicated her working life to improving the life chances of our most vulnerable children and young people. To date, she has held a number of prestigious posts including BBC Governor, Chief Executive to the Church Urban Fund, and National Secretary of YMCA England. She was also a founding member of the Social Exclusion Unit in Cabinet Office and has worked closely with Government as Adviser to the Department for Education and Skills as well as serving on the House of Lords Appointments Commission. She has a broad range of experience in the public and voluntary sectors, and is passionately committed to ensuring that all children and young people have the best chance possible in life. She currently sits on the Board of Capacitybuilders and is also a Youth Justice Board Member, and was awarded the CBE in 2000.
Angela sees nurture as an absolutely vital method of early intervention with the power to change life outcomes for the better. She believes the Nurture Group Network has an integral role to play in widening the profile and scope of nurture, going beyond classrooms to spread the power of nurture far and wide and to truly broaden the horizons and life chances of those young people who are most at risk.
