Stephen Whittle was Controller Editorial Policy at the BBC from
2001 to 2006 and before that Director of the Broadcasting Standards Commission.
His career spans programme production, journalism and training. He is a visiting
fellow at the Reuters Institute of Journalism at Oxford University and is a
member of the board of the Solicitors Regulation Authority. He is also expert
adviser to the Council of Europe on media issues. He was awarded an OBE for
services to broadcasting in 2006.
