Dr Sally Uren is deputy chief executive, Forum for the Future.

Sally oversees Forum's partnerships with both private and public sector organisations, as well as our sectoral and place-based sustainability projects.  Much of Sally's work involves helping the business community realise the opportunity agenda presented by sustainable development. She is very keen to demonstrate the competitive advantages of leadership on this agenda for business.

Sally has particular interest in the retail, built environment and finance sectors. She has been appointed by HRH Prince of Wales as an advisor to Duchy Originals. She is also an independent advisor to The Carbon Neutral Company, acts as the independent chair for Land Rover's carbon offset scheme, is a member of Time Warner's External Stakeholder Advisory Committee and is a member of the Carbon Trust's Technical Advisory Group, established to advise on carbon measurement and labelling. Sally co-authored Forum's ground-breaking publication Leader Business, which sets out what Forum for the Future thinks constitutes best practice in embedding sustainability into business.

Prior to joining the Forum, Sally founded and directed the Sustainability Group at private consultancy Casella Stanger (now owned by Bureau Veritas).

Sally completed a post doctorate research fellowship funded by DfID (then the ODA) in optimal nutrient regimes for encouraging the regeneration of logged rainforest in Borneo. She also did a PhD on the impacts of nitrogenous deposition on semi natural ecosystems at Imperial College, London. Her BSc was in Biology at Manchester.
