In
January 2010, Pat will take up the reins as Chief Creative Officer of BBC
Vision. The role, which will see him taking
responsibility for some of the Corporation’s biggest brands - Top
Gear, EastEnders, Strictly Come Dancing, Dragon’s
Den, Dr Who and more - will make him the most highly placed figure
from a minority background in TV industry.
A
graduate of Cardiff University, Pat has enjoyed a varied
career. His introduction to the industry
came on LWT’s The London Programme.
Pat’s eclectic CV includes credits as an executive producer at BBC
News, Editor of Black Britain [BBC], Channel Four’s multicultural
commissioning editor, and BBC head of sports programmes and planning.
In
2005, Pat moved to the US to become President and
General Manager of the ailing Discovery Channel-owned The Travel Channel. He spent the next four years turning the
ailing cable station into a respected and profitable concern, before returning
to the UK to reunite with his children,
who had remained here during his stint in the States.
