Pro-Social Behaviour: the Future - it's up to us
Imagine a society where our account of how to promote learning, sustain safer neighbourhoods, or make diversity work included not only what government must do, what my employers must do but also what my community must do and what I must do. In a major new project launched on 7 February 2007, the RSA aims to develop and advance the idea of pro-social strategy. Several of the goals we share for society rely on citizens themselves choosing to act wisely and responsibly; how should we reform politics, society and government to enable and encourage people to make those choices? Second, what can we do to renew the ragged relationship between citizens and politicians, particularly those elected to govern? Through a methodology that combines high level debate, policy development, developing strong networks, testing the practical application of ideas through experimentation and drawing on the insight and expertise of our 26,000 Fellows - the RSA is well placed to act as a focus, a hub and a rallying point for a pro-social vision.
