From Oil Dependence to Local Resilience, Presentation and Discussion
19th May 2009; 18:00
This is a free event at The Maid's Head Hotel, Tombland, Norwich.
Peak Oil (the imminent decline in world oil supplies), climate change and economic dislocation will fundamentally challenge our way of life.
The bad news is that much that we take for granted in our modern world will become increasingly difficult over the next few years. The good news is that, if we choose to, we can use this as an opportunity to rebuild communities and create a fairer and more human world.
Transition Norwich is a group of some 300 people who are working to create a more resilient Norwich. Different theme groups are developing practical proposals and projects for food, energy, buildings, transport, the economy etc, that are less dependent on oil and other external inputs, and also reduce our climate change impact.
The “Heart and Soul” group is working on cultural change, away from a world where consumption is the source of status, and towards one that values community. We invite you to join us! .
