Gwilym Gibbons, Alex Miller and Cathy Agnew will explore issues relative to marketing their respective enterprises – Shetland Arts, National Trust for Scotland and CatStrand, New Galloway, and will provoke a range of issues for debate.
Alex Miller, NTS Retail Operations Manager, has been with the Trust since February 2008. Previous experience includes working for John Lewis for six years across the UK and prior to that he was involved in safety training for 13 years in the airline industry. His previous retail experience was with William Low.
Gwilym Gibbons FRSA is the Director of Shetland Art, the UK’s most northerly arts agency and one of the largest in Scotland. His career spans venue, festival and partnership management. Self-educated while growing up in communes throughout the UK and after an experimental 2 years in school, he found his way into the arts though a youth arts project in Milton Keynes. Gwilym has an MSc in Cultural Management and Policy from Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh and has been a Chartered Manager of the Chartered Management Institute for the past four years...
Cathy Agnew is Chairman and Founder of the Glenkens Community & Arts Trust which runs The CatStrand, a new and exciting contemporary Arts and Visitor Centre in south-west Scotland. A farmer’s wife and former television producer, Cathy was the inspiration and driving force for this remarkable rural regeneration project. Awards received include the Arts & Business Award 2007 for Business Sponsorship in the Community, the Glasgow Institute of Architects Design Award 2007 and Leader+ Award for Champions of Culture 2007.
The event is timed so delegates may also see Watermill’s "Edinburgh Exhibition" which includes modern abstract prints by Miro, Vasarely and Moore plus ceramics by Lotte Glob. Wine and refreshments will be provided.
Special note: The Gallery has no lift and is accessed only via a standard stone staircase exterior to the building.
