Martin Chasin, FRSA, invites Fellows interested in sporting art to visit previews and exhibitions over two days in New York as follows:
Monday, December 1st
3:30-5:30pm- Sporting Art preview at Christie’s, 20 Rockefeller Plaza (located on East 49th Street between 5th & 6th Avenues.) Tea and scones will be served in the boardroom.
6:00-7:30pm- Preview of Sporting Art sale and reception at Sotheby’s, York Avenue and 72nd Street
7:30pm- Three course dinner with wine at the Penn Club located at 30 West 44th Street, between 5th & 6th Avenues (opposite side of the street from the New York Yacht Club)
Tuesday, December 2nd
11:00am- American Museum of Natural History located at Central Park West & 79th Street; viewing of the exhibition entitled, “The Horse” led by Mitchell Merling, Curator of European Paintings, Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond.
4:00pm- A visit to William Secord Gallery at 52 East 76th Street to view a superb collection of sporting art.
