RSA Fellowship: Networking and Visit to Monticello
Danielle Wilkens, FRSA, Monticello Interpreter, invites Fellows to join her for a private architectural tour of Jefferson's masterpiece, Monticello, including a rare visit to the Dome Room.
Danielle, an award winning environmental designer, will highlight special details of Jefferson's 'essay in architecture', including sustainable elements in 17th and 18th century design, and discuss the evolution of Monticello as one of the only United Nations World Heritage sites in the United States. For more information visit their website.
We will also visit the new Thomas Jefferson Visitor Center and Smith Education Center, slated for its grand opening in April. The Center incorporates many environmentally friendly, sustainable design features and operating systems, and like the main house is firmly rooted in and engaged by the spectacular surrounding landscape. Monticello is pursuing Gold Level certification in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).
We will gather in the Monticello Cafe at 1.00pm. After our tour Danielle has made a small room available for us to have tea and get to know each other a little better. We will discuss the new vision of the RSA and what it means to the Fellowship.
Please note there is a $25 donation per person to Monticello. Reserve your space by emailing Lynn Broadbent as soon as possible.
