Diary: Autumn 2009
New projects director
The RSA is pleased to announce the appointment of new Projects director Julian Thompson. He joins the RSA on 19 October from Ipsos Mori, bringing expertise not only in research and strategic analysis but also in community building, social media and culture change.
Global crisis, local response
As we begin the regeneration process that will lead us out of the recession, the RSA and LBRO (Local Better Regulation Office) are holding a joint seminar on 2 November, exploring how local authorities and government can foster innovation through better local regulation and new models of regeneration. For details, email the Projects team.
Primary reform
Sir Jim Rose, author of the independent primary curriculum review, and Barry Sheerman MP, chairman of the House of Commons Select Committee for Children, Schools and Families, will give their perspectives on curriculum reform at the RSA’s Opening Minds conference for primary school practitioners on 3 November. Book your place on the RSA Education website.
Subjects matter
The RSA is running a series of invitation-only seminars to examine the place of subjects in an increasingly flexible and locally determined curriculum. Following the success of a seminar on geography, sessions on design and STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) subjects will take place in the autumn term, with a further seminar on music planned for the spring of 2010. Email Louise Thomas for more information.
