A problem shared

600 Fellows are now members of the online RSA Fellowship network, up from 100 at the beginning of the year. The increase in membership is testament to the success of the Fellowship Council, which will celebrate its first anniversary this October. Made up of 40 Fellows, the Council has worked hard to involve the Fellowship in debate and action, as well as to strengthen the relationship between RSA staff and Fellows.

"Rather than simply relaying opinion from the Fellowship to the RSA, we wanted to create a collaborative, experimental culture that would enable staff and Fellows to work together more productively," explained Tessy Britton, chair of the Fellowship Council. "This way, Fellows can make a genuine contribution to problem-solving processes."

The working groups each focus on a particular area of interest, from thematic concerns such as education and gender to operational issues such as how to make the regional networks function most effectively. One group is working with RSA staff to develop and manage the online Fellowship network, while members of another group are involved in assessing applications to RSA Catalyst, awarding funding and discussing future strategy.

Britton added: “By remaining transparent about our progress, we hope to continue stimulating better Fellow engagement and turning talk into action.”
