News in brief

RSA Journal success

The RSA Journal received recognition at this year's Communicators in Business Awards, when Frans de Waal's article How bad biology killed the economy (Winter 2009) came top in the 'Best feature/profile' category.

Award-winning art

The RSA Albert Medal for social innovation will be awarded to artist Jeremy Deller at an event on 13 December. The award recognises Deller’s achievements in producing works of art that stimulate creativity in local communities and provoke debate about what we value in contemporary democratic life. Details of the event will shortly be available
on the RSA Events page.

Community service

The RSA's Annual Civic Day took place last month in Peterborough. Thirty-five RSA staff members worked with Peterborough Council to launch its Community Action Week. Volunteers took part in activities aimed at regenerating the river embankment, an area of the city that has been underappreciated in recent years. Local authorities in Peterborough have since decided to make the area a priority in the drive to improve the city’s sustainability.
