New networks
New Networks platform will help Fellows connect
After a year of collaborative effort and a huge amount of energy from both staff and Fellows, the Networks platform will be available to all Fellows in November as part of the RSA’s new website. The platform makes it easy for Fellows to propose, discuss and develop initiatives for socially progressive projects, and connect with other Fellows who share expertise and interests. The Networks platform has been co-designed by staff and Fellows to move ideas into action, shaping the future direction of RSA projects through direct involvement and interaction.
An early test version of the platform was launched at a lively collaborative event for Fellows and staff at the RSA on 22 November 2007. The National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (NESTA) provided a grant for the development of the platform as part of their work in funding collaborative innovation programmes.
This test site, developed by Fellows Saul Albert and Andy Gibson in partnership with a committed group of Fellows, has already hosted many powerful discussions and moved groups to action on a diverse spectrum of issues from local interest projects to questions around mental health. Since its launch, the site has seen a further four iterations, adapting and improving in response to feedback from users. The final site (http://networks.thersa.org) will be launched on the anniversary of the November event and will be a powerful tool enabling Fellows and their guests to connect with other Fellows and develop ideas into action.
