Government approves funding for RSA Academy in Tipton
The government has approved funding for the development of the RSA Academy. Signed on 27 February, the funding agreement is the formal understanding between the secretary of state for children, schools and families, and the RSA.
It establishes that the Academy Trust, through the Board of Governors, will be responsible for the Academy. Sir Mike Tomlinson, former HM Inspector of Schools and now commissioner for London Schools, is the chair of the Academy Trust.
The academy is the first school in the UK to be custom-designed to support the RSA’s Opening Minds curriculum, with flexible classroom size and space designed to support the teaching and learning in Key Stages 3 and 4.
