In Your Network - Antoinette Saxer FRSA

Antoinette SaxerAntoinette Saxer FRSA, is the Founder of Amnaia PR & Production and is currently working on the upcoming Good Fashion show which focuses on ethical fashion. She talks about why eco-fashion inspires her and what she would like to connect to other Fellows about:

Please give a brief explanation of what it is you do and why?
In 2011 I established my PR and production company AMNAIA, which offers independent project management, PR and consultancy in social branding for artists, stage performers and fashion professionals.  My latest project is THE GOOD FASHION SHOW, London Fashion Week’s largest off-schedule event with 44 participating labels. We showcase the best of British and international ethical, sustainable and responsibly produced fashion, on Saturday 18 February 2012.

For me as an engaged academic and creative professional, eco-ethical fashion is where some fundamental ideas about ethics, aesthetics, social engagement and responsible commerce meet. I believe in the possibility of shaping and changing the way we act and interact as human beings. I believe that our shared future can be built on respect for and belief in people and planet. And I also believe that 21st century economy can, indeed must, rest on traceable, honest and transparent practices of business and trade.

What did you join the Fellowship for?
To encounter like-minded creative minds and social entrepreneurs and to develop innovative projects at the intersection between arts and ethical entrepreneurship.

In what capacity do you think you could contribute to society/the Fellowship?
As a young new Fellow I believe that my current capacity is the most appropriate one. But I have dreams.

What would you change in society given the chance?
To strengthen innovation based on a fundamental respect for and belief in people and planet.

What recent bit of news have you heard which inspires you?
The courageous and modest tribute to Nature by the Korean photographer AHAE.

What did you learn last week?
Real changes start with simple things.

Tell us about another interesting Fellow you have spoken to.
I recently had a few wonderful conversations with the cross-disciplinary designer and channel-swimmer James McBennett and social entrepreneur Becky John, the founder of 'Who Made Your Pants' who is launching her amazing brand at The Good Fashion Show.

What would you like to connect with Fellows about? Please tell us if there is anything you would like from other Fellows.
At present, I would be very interested in connecting with Fellows of a diversity of backgrounds in arts, fashion and commerce to explore future collaborations and plans for The Good Fashion Show. The event is also open to the public if you would like to attend. We would be interested in critical feedback to help us grow better and stronger in the future.  I am passionate about eco-ethical fashion because it is a powerful means of merging the 'beautiful' and the 'good' in something all human beings very basically need, namely clothing.
