Looking ahead to 2012 - Trustee Board approves strategy

The Trustee Board met for its annual ‘Away Day’ last week and approved the strategy for 2012-15.  Keen to build on current successes (such as the RSA Academy and emerging family of schools, the West Kent Whole Person Recovery project, Catalyst and RSAnimate), and mindful of resource and budgetary implications in the current climate, the Trustees felt that the strategy should be one of continuation and consolidation, with an emphasis on practical action.  A few of the top line targets that were agreed for the next three years are:

• The Fellowship journey to be developed so that Fellows can obtain status and recognition reflecting and incentivising their contribution to the Fellowship and the charitable mission of the RSA.
• The RSA to be associated with successful innovative front line interventions.
• The RSA to be seen as having a powerful capacity for problem solving deriving from its broad mandate and unique organisational form (Fellows and staff).
• The RSA to have a recognised, consistent and deepening account of how to understand and enhance human capability.
• The RSA ideas platform to be a globally recognised resource
• The RSA to be one of the best places to work
• The RSA to be one of the most exciting and sought after venues in London (and exemplify the Society’s values).
There was also a strong recognition that the RSA needs to operate on an international basis.

The next stage in the process is for these agreed targets to be used to shape the 2012/13 budget.

The Board also discussed the opportunity afforded by the re-opening of the Great Room in July and will be discussing at its next meeting plans for some fantastic events to showcase the RSA’s work.  We’ll keep you posted as the plans develop.
