Regional AGM 2010 Report
The AGM took place on Saturday 10th July in Bournemouth. New committee members and a new Chairman, Greg Slay FRSA, were elected.
Learn about the RSA’s future direction
Last Autumn, the Fellowship Council was constituted, based on the Fellowship Charter, with 20 Fellowship elected members and 20 nominated by RSA Trustees. The regional committee is holding two Fellows events in South Central Region at which a Council representative will describe the direction of the Council, and its objectives. The first will be held in Reading for Fellows in the north of the region, and the discussion will be led by Paul Buchanan, Deputy Chair of the Council.

RSA South Central AGM and Distinguished Lecture
Notice is given that the South Central Region AGM will be held on Saturday July 10th 2010 at the Allsebrook Lecture Theatre, Talbot Campus, University of Bournemouth BH12 5BB.
Following the AGM there will be a lecture entitled “A Witness to History” given by the distinguished academic and broadcaster, Professor Sean Street FRSA

Development of the RSA Chichester and Portsmouth Network
RSA Fellows in Chichester and Portsmouth (loosely defined as within both the urban and rural areas covered by the PO1-41 postcode and the GU28-33 postcode) have set up a Ning as a means of communication specific to this geographical area.

Reports from two recent and well attended events taking place in the Soucth Central region.
Eddi of Manhood End: A project for the Cultural Olympics
The famous Rudyard Kipling poem, ‘Eddi of Manhood End’ centres on the small town of Selsey (population c. 5,000) in West Sussex. There are plans now developing to stage contemporary opera-chorale based on this poem, which will be performed over several nights in 2012. The performance is being designed to create a lasting legacy for community involvement in the arts.

Transition towns
The Transition Town movement started in Totnes, Devon, and has mushroomed into an international phenomena. There are several Transition Towns at varying stages of evolution throughout RSA South Central region, and many Fellows are likely to be involved at a local level whilst others want to find out more and contribute.
