Launch of the South Central Social Innovations Support Fund
In March this year, the region launched its Social Innovations Support Fund. This is intended to provide seed corn funding and expertise to help Fellows get their initiative started. Our experience is that the preliminary activities can prove to be the biggest obstacle to get the ball rolling for such initiatives, and we are seeking to help Fellows overcome these obstacles.
To date, we have awarded funds to 3 Fellows' projects:
- a community initiative to reduce carbon footprints in the village of Jordans
- an initiative to market a Sustainable Schools programme to schools in the central and south part of the region
- a kick start to enable individuals and organisations in Reading to pool ideas on how technology can help children who have communication difficulties
We will also be working closely with the RSA's Catalyst and Skills bank programmes to match projects with local Fellows who have volunteered relevant skills and expertise that could be of benefit.
We are now looking for applications for the next round of funding.
