RSA London Region Youth Awards for Innovation
Over five years the RSA London Region Youth Awards have supported seventeen projects proposed by young people in London boroughs. In the last year, we have supported (both through a financial grant and through mentoring support) a team in Barking and Dagenham who have set up a bicycle repair business; a group in Newham which is marketing woolen hats to provide for finance for their own facilities; a unit for young hard-of-hearing seeking better self-expression and better awareness among the public; and a multi-faceted project in Barnet which includes the arts and free running, and culminates in a film.
So far we have spent £25,000 on projects like these, and next year we are setting aside at least £10,000. We expect to support between seven and ten projects. We are ready with application forms, terms and conditions, a team of sympathetic but objective adjudicators, and, most important, mentors to help winners see their projects through.
We would like to ask any Fellows working with young people to help us publicise our offer, and encourage applications, the deadline for which is Monday 13th February 2012. Winners will be informed as soon as possible and invited to the award presentation on 23rd May at the RSA House. It is helpful to know in advance if a group proposes to apply.
Full details and rules are stated on the Youth Awards website, and further information is available by emailing.
