Glory of Failure Event
15th Sep 2009
We need more failure. An odd premise, but a true one. Because failure is a natural by-product of innovation, of trying new things, and we definitely need more of that these days. Why? In challenging and somewhat terrifying times like these, our natural inclination may be to hold back: to pause, retrench our forces, and wait until the storm blows over. But actually this is exactly the opposite of what we should do - solving these challenges will require ingenuity and bold action. Some of our greatest success stories were born out of times of scarcity and recession.
To explore these ideas, and challenge the conventional notion that the UK has some endemic fear of failure, we launched the Glory of Failure (GoF) programme. Our first step on the way to understanding failure better is a GoF colloquium, of sorts. We are inviting you to attend the first colloquium for the Glory of Failure project to look at some of the core principles of failure and examine the concept of failure from a range of different perspectives: the psychologist, the risk professional, the healthcare practitioners, the entrepreneur, and others. Come along and:
