New Haven, CT: Networking and Visit to Beinecke Library

12th May 2009

Fellows were invited to join Carole Franco, RSA-US Trustee, and Louise Bernard, FRSA, Curator of American Literature, for a tour of the Beinecke Library.

A group of 13 Fellows and guests had a fascinating visit to the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Yale on May 12th.  The current exhibitions of Van Vechten photographs and Visionaire Magazine were very professionally commented on by RSA Fellow, Louise Bernard, Curator of Drama and Prose Writings of the Yale Collection of American Literature.  We learned a great deal about the unique collection of rare books and felt privileged to spend a couple of hours in the Beinecke Library which must rank as one of America’s true architectural gems.

The event was topped off with a dinner at the Graduate Club in New Haven organized by Philip Schenck.  The food was excellent and matched by lively and constructive dinner conversation.

The evening was RSA networking at its best and an inspiration for more such delightful encounters to come.
