Regional Structure

David Philips, Acting Chair of the WalesCymru Steering Group has prepared a paper outlining the planned operational structure reflecting the various regions for WalesCymru.  This paper was disseminated for discussion and consultation with Fellows during late 2011. The paper was further debated, agreed and approved at the recent WalesCymru Annual Forum on Saturday 22 October 2011 in Cardiff. The steering group was formed to develop and propose a new operational structure.

It has taken a long time to reach this point and the highest priority is now to get things moving in RSA Wales/Cymru; nominations for the Chairs and Fellowship Councillors of all RSA Regions and Nations in the UK and Ireland will be sought in late April/early May, with elections in June 2012. This means that the timescale for preparations in Wales is short, and if we hold elections the new Committee will only have at most three months to get things organised before nominations for the key posts of Chair and Fellowship Councillor are sought.

After discussions with members of the Trustee Board and the Chair and Deputy Chair of the Fellowship Council and with some Fellows in Wales we believe that it would be better to appoint an Acting Chair and Officers and temporary members of the Wales/Cymru Committee so that they can start work immediately in January.

Their task would be to implement the new arrangements agreed at the earlier Cardiff meeting convened by David Phillips.

We know that a number of Fellows have already indicated interest in helping with the new Committee and this note also invites any others to indicate their interest in joining the Committee until a new team is formally elected next Summer.

We particularly welcome representation from all areas of WalesCymru as outlined by the operational structure; Northwest, Northeast, Mid-Wales, Southwest and Southeast

If you would like to join the new WalesCymru team please contact Vivs Long-Ferguson by the 10th of January.

The aim will be to have the team in place by the end of January.
