Social Innovation Camp
RSA Networks and Fellows are helping Social Innovation Camp use technology to address real social needs.
Social Innovation Camp is an experiment in using social technology for social change. From 5-7 December 2008, they will be bringing together software developers and designers with people who have a practical understanding of social needs, to develop six web tools to change the world.
The web and digital technologies aid an individual's ability to communicate, collaborate and organise themselves in new ways.
This new phenomenon has the potential to change some fundamental aspects of our society: how people hold those in positions of power accountable; who they rely on to provide the services they need to live healthy, happy lives; or how they make a difference to something that affects them.
But for any of this to happen, we have to work out what's really needed and start building the technology that can help - which is what Social Innovation Camp is all about.
Have a good idea? Submit it now
The Social Innovation Camp team are looking for the best ideas for web-based tools that could bring about a positive change.
If you understand what needs to change - in health, education, local communities or the environment - and you think the web could help, enter your idea by Friday 7 November 2008 to win a place at the December Camp and they'll help you put your idea into action.
