The Fellowship

What is the Fellowship?

The RSA is supported by an international Fellowship of 27,000 people.  These achievers and influencers come from an extraordinary range of backgrounds and are committed to civic innovation and social progress.

What do the Fellows do?

For many people, seeing the letters FRSA after their name confirms both a sense of personal achievement and a commitment to civic innovation.  The RSA works together with its Fellows to deliver the aims of the Society.  Fellows act as ambassadors and advocates, and give their time, energy and expertise to further our work. They contribute further by collaborating on their own ideas for innovative social change projects they are passionate about.  Ideas are exchanged online through RSA Networks, within project steering groups, and via face to face interaction.

Fellows are also able to:

  • Discuss proposals and take practical action for positive social change through the RSA Networks platform
  • Search for contacts using the Directory of Fellows
  • Develop and share skills and expertise through networking and collaboration
  • Respond to and discuss critical contemporary issues profiled in the Journal and take up calls to action
  • Contact a regional RSA group and attend or coordinate regional events and projects
  • Hear world-class speakers and emerging talents at the RSA's leading lecture series
  • Act as an ambassador for the RSA amongst friends and colleagues, recommending Fellowship where appropriate
  • Use the facilities available at the RSA House.

Who becomes a Fellow?

People join the Fellowship from a variety of professions and this wealth of expertise and knowledge is one of its greatest strengths.

Fellows include: experts in science, ethics and the environment; leaders in the commercial, voluntary and public sectors; social entrepreneurs; cutting-edge practitioners in the worlds of literature, film, dance, new media and the visual arts; opinion formers and journalists; and award winning designers and architects.

Becoming a Fellow not only gives you the opportunity to network with peers from a diverse range of sectors but also to become a civic innovator, actively involved in social change projects.
