Stoke Stories Open Conference
Saturday 15 October 10am – 4pm
Venue: University of Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent
Stoke Stories Open Conference is part of an ongoing programme of work designed to contribute toward the regeneration of Stoke-on-Trent. While regeneration programmes place emphasis on developing infrastructure, retraining and education; less focus has been lavished on the civic and political reconstruction of deindustrialising cities. Stoke Stories seeks to address this gap.
The Open Conference will include a keynote talk, workshops and a community panel event welcoming presentations from local voluntary groups and social enterprises. The workshops will highlight themes such as social enterprise, social media, asset transfer, education and fundraising. Based on their strength and that of the business plan standing behind it, the most impressive three submissions will be eligible for prizes (to be announced).
During lunchtime there will be a ‘marketplace’ open to all organisations to host a stand/stall to promote your work and activities. This event is free.
