Lopa Patel is an entrepreneurial businesswoman and an inspirational leader with extensive experience in the successful development of businesses within the 'New Media' sector. She has an outstanding record of achievement that has been recognised throughout the industry via numerous accolades including the 'Windrush Award' 2003 (Outstanding Champion for the Internet & Technology category) and she was voted 'Asian Woman of the Year' in 2005 (Media category). She was recognised with an MBE for services to the creative industries in The Queen's Birthday Honours List 2009.
She previously founded a direct marketing services company and has helped create several not-for-profit organisations. Lopa currently serves as a Non-Executive Director of Becta (British Education Communications and Technology Agency); a Non-Executive Director of EMBG (a Business Support group); a Board Director & Trustee of Tamasha Theatre Company and a Trustee of educational charity Raha International. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), and a Fellow of the Institute of Direct Marketing (IDM). Lopa is currently a Technology Ambassador for STEMNet, helping to encourage girls to take up Science careers and she is a Mentor for Young Enterprise UK, assisting girls on the national entrepreneurship programme.
