Professor Sir Al Aynsley-Green is the former Children’s Commissioner for England.
Sir Al was appointed National Clinical Director for Children at the Department of Health in July 2001. He was the Nuffield Professor of Child Health at the Institute of Child Health, University College London, and at the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Trust. He has a major research interest in the history of children and childhood and their standing in contemporary society.
