Mark Ball
West Midlands
I am the Founder and Director of the West Midlands multi-award winning arts production company Fierce Earth, producers of the region-wide, internationally acclaimed Fierce Arts Festival. Fierce Earth is a constant innovator, inventively focussing its attention on bringing the very best of the contemporary arts to the widest possible audience through the production of pioneering, out of the ordinary and high-profile cultural events. Creative learning is at our heart and we nurture some of the region’s finest creative talent, working extensively across education and assisting over 400 startup businesses through our industry based professional development programmes.
To grow the creative sector I worked to establish Creative Republic, the Region’s creative industries lead membership body, and championed the economic case as a Board member of Birmingham Chamber of Commerce.
I am currently working in London, across the UK and internationally bringing a valuable and wide ranging perspective to the RSA Council, and I am of course a passionate advocate of the West Midlands having both a home and a business there. I am the recipient of the Institute of Directors ‘Young Director of the Year Award’ in 2005/6, a Clore Leadership Fellow and a Governor of the Southbank Centre.
