End of Year Charitable Donations
Please remember RSA-US as you consider your year-end charitable donations. Fellows of the RSA in the United States is incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation under the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and recognized as tax exempt under Section 5.01(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code. Working Together
During the first half of September 2009, US Fellowship meetings took place around the country. The events and the discussions were as diverse as Fellows themselves. We saw practical examples of individuals, organizations and communities working together to achieve impressive results.
US Events and Milestones 2009
So far in 2009 there have been close to 70 events and milestones for Fellows in 20 different US cities, including more than 20 RSA-US Fellows' meetings and programs, and 45 Fellow to Fellow invitations.
Monica Hale, Susan Steele, elected to the RSA-US Trustee Board
At its December 10 Annual Meeting in New York, the RSA-US Board of Trustees elected two new members: Monica Hale and Susan Steele. Their extensive experience and expertise in both the corporate and non-profit arenas will greatly contribute to the US Fellowship.
Virtual Meeting Point for Networks in Every US State
Have you ever met someone at the airport under the sign that reads "Meeting Point"? That's what Fellows are now doing virtually on the American Coffee House.

Monica Hale
This past Boxing Day, RSA-US Trustee Monica Hale lost her year long fight with cancer. You can read a little about Monica’s life and her enduring commitment to the RSA here. (more)
Chattanooga: Catalyst Project in Action
Last week I had the opportunity to see for myself the real difference made by an RSA Catalyst grant. One of the first grants was awarded to Sharon Turner, lead Fellow in the Chattanooga network. (more)
The Art of Science Learning
This project focuses on the use of arts-based learning to foster scientific literacy in the general population and STEM skill development in an innovative and economically competitive 21st Century American workforce. (more)

Alex McDowell, RDI, has opened up the 5D DISTRIBUTED CONFERENCE to RSA Fellows everywhere; Henry Timms and Helaine Katz of 92Y in New York offer monthly programs without charge to Fellows; Ian Fisk of the William James Foundation invites Fellows to participate in the Sustainable Business Plan Competition William James Foundation Sustainable Business Plan Competition as competitors or judges in October/November 2011; Paul Rich welcomes Fellows to all Policy Study Organization’s events and conferences, including the annual DuPont Summit for Science and Technology coming up on December 2, 2011; and Katherine Lordi is developing a Fellow-led enrichment program for boys at the Mt. RSA United States Board appoints David Turner as President and CEO
At the December 16, 2011, Annual Meeting of the US Trustees, David Turner was appointed as President and CEO for a one year term. Peter Peyser has agreed to serve one more year as Chairman and Haris Hromic will serve as Treasurer. RSA-US Student Design Awards, Challenge Fund, Diebold Young Fellows' Scholarship, and Benjamin Franklin Medal Lecture
The RSA-US Student Design Awards Competition connects education with industry to tackle real design challenges and encourage sustainable design and innovative solutions. The RSA’s prestigious awards program has a long history of recognizing emerging talent; past winners include Sir Jonathan Ive, RDI, of Apple and Bill Moggridge, RDI, of the Cooper Hewitt.
The RSA-US Challenge Fund works with RSA Catalyst to support Fellows’ projects and network development.
The Diebold Young Fellows’ Scholarship Program honors the many years of service of Founding RSA-US President David Diebold and makes Fellowship accessible to young social entrepreneurs. The US Trustees will also provide one-on-one mentoring and connections.
The Benjamin Franklin Medal Lecture and Award Ceremony will take place in New York in early 2013. Past medalists include General Sir Colin Powell, Sir Ken Robinson and Senator George Mitchell. Details and a call for nominations for 2013 will be announced soon.
