BIMA Digital Media Awards now open for entries

The BIMA Schools Digital Challenge 2010 is now open for initial expressions of interest - schools and colleges should register their potential interest on the BIMA site with a paragraph or two of up to 200 words summarizing each proposed idea by an extended deadline of 12 February.

Completed entries will then need to be submitted by 14 May.

Information on this initiative can be found on the BIMA website, including a short video of the informal awards event at the RSA in London in July this year.

Uplands Community College, one last year’s winning teams found tells us why they found the experience valuable:

"The competition has given us a unique opportunity to meet key figures from industry, and allowed students to experience a worthwhile project outside of the curriculum."
Phil Rhodes, Information and Communication Technology teacher, Uplands Community College (joint winners of the BIMA Digital Challenge 2009)

"I think we have proved that you don't need all the fancy equipment, you just need teamwork and commitment, and that was shown by us."
Jordon Bullock (14), member of the Uplands Community College winning team

The British Interactive Media Association (BIMA) is the not-for-profit membership organisation that represents the interactive and digital industry in the UK.  Last year we launched the BIMA Schools Digital Challenge, a competition that aims to inspire talented young people to get involved in the digital industry.  Schools from Hampstead, Jersey, Worcester, Dudley, Kent, Sussex and Stockton-on-Tees were shortlisted for awards.
