RSA Vision

Author Professor Joel Waldfogel visits the RSA to tell us why we shouldn't get caught up in expensive Christmas shopping.

Chair: Jasmine Birtles, journalist, broadcaster and finance expert.

Joel Waldfogel argues that every pound we spend on ourselves produces at least a pound in satisfaction. But gift giving is different. Choices are less-informed leaving recipients less than satisfied. Our festive spending generates £50billion of economic waste each winter.

It is time, says Joel, to stop the shopping madness and think twice before we buy those gifts.
